Tasmanian salmon farmer Petuna and the Tasmanian Ports Corporation TasPorts will conduct a joint assessment of the Port of Stanley, in west Tasmania, for a potential base for fish farm expansion for the salmon farmer, reports ABC.

Petuna, which is looking to expand beyond Macquarie Harbour, has a 12-month agreement with TasPorts to look at "development and investment" opportunities at the site.

Anthony Donald, COO at TasPorts, said the site is underutilized and “ripe for the sort of investment a company like Petuna could bring.”
