The seafood industry has become an important sector on the Oslo stock exchange, reflecting the growth and maturation of the industry, particularly the salmon-farming sector.

In 2005, the total market capitalization of listed seafood stocks amounted to NOK 16 billion (€1.6 billion/$1.6 billion), compared with today’s value of NOK 354 billion (€34.3 billion/$36.1 billion).

This equals an increase of 22 times, Pareto CEO Christian Joomas said during a presentation at North Atlantic Seafood Forum in Bergen last week.

The steep increase shows no sings of slowing, he said.
