Scientists in New Zealand managed to successfully breed blue cod for the first time growing it to fingerlings, a milestone that will support the development of a new aquaculture industry for the country, reports scoop.co.nz
The Seafood Technologies team at Plant & Food Research in Nelson in association with Ngai Tahu Seafood are investigating how to breed and farm different species of native fish in captivity.
With the success in blue cod breeding, New Zealand can now consider potential opportunities for this species, relieving at the same time wild biomass.
