Chile’s National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) certified 50 salmon farms in the country as antibiotic-free in 2018, a 43 percent increase from the year prior.

The antibiotic-free certification program started in Magallanes and has expanded to the other farming regions, Aysen and Los Lagos.

The certification refers to farming centers that have not used any antibiotic in the current farming cycle, according to Sernapesca.
