Norwegian salmon farmer Lingalaks announced this week it is implementing the use of Veramaris omega-3 EPA and DHA algal oil at the commercial-scale, making salmon production less reliant on finite fish oil resources.

“By being the early adopter of this new technology, we found partners along the seafood value chain who supported us in realizing our vision of superior, sustainable salmon quality and finding new outlets for it,” said Lingalaks owner Erlend Haugarvoll.

German retail chain Kaufland, part of the German Schwarz Group, is the first retailer to feature the product, according to Lingalaks.
