Norwegian cod farmer Norcod reported the escape of 200 fry following an equipment failure at its site in Frosvika on July 23.

The company discovered vertical tears in one of its nets during a routine inspection, it said in an announcement on the Euronext Growth market, where the company trades.

Norcod reported the escape to the Norwegian Fisheries Ministry and immediately repaired the damage following the discovery, and is now investigating the incident.

The equipment is less than two months old and made of premium polyester nets, which exceeds industry standard, but Norcod said it has increased inspection frequency while the manufacturer determines the cause of the breach.
