Norwegian closed-containment salmon farming specialist AkvaFuture plans to double production in Norway within the next two years and is making progress in its expansion projects in Iceland.

The company will farm 3,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon in 2018 across three different locations in Northern Norway, and plans to reach 6,000 metric tons by 2020.

However, the process to get new licenses in Norway for salmon farming is long and the company has decided to expand into Iceland to keep up with its future expansion plans.
