Salmon Group’s communications officer Oyvind Kraakaas has questions to ask after Ole Haugen, chairman at Norway's Hitra Council and of the network for fjords and coastal municipalities NFKK, told IntraFish support is growing nationally for the implementation of a marine resource tax.
In response to the statement, Kraakaas wrote in an e-mail to IntraFish that so far it would appear many politicians have only asked themselves two questions in regard to a potential resource taxes:
- Do municipalities need more money?
- Can such a tax be enforced?
There has not been a single concrete proposal aired on how land tax should be calculated, said Kraakaas, making it difficult to discuss the economic consequences.
