The Norwegian government is currently discussing the possibility of raising taxes on aquaculture companies. Doing so, warns KPMG Law Norway Partner Pedro Leitethe, could lead to a slowdown in investments in the sector.

The law consulting firm released a report comparing aquaculture industry taxation systems in the major producing countries of Norway, Australia, Canada, Chile, the United Kingdom, China and the Faroe Islands.

Since the tax systems are not entirely comparable due to the difference in economies, IntraFish analyzed the main differences between corporate income tax rates in the mentioned countries, while tackling what might happen in Norway’s sector.
