Norwegian salmon farmer Nordlaks said delivery of its massive "Havfarm" salmon farming system has been delayed from the spring of 2020 to the summer.

In February 2018 Nordlaks signed a contract with China-based CIMC Raffles to build the first Havfarm operation, which is expected to contain 10,000 metric tons of salmon.

"The shipyard has probably underestimated the complexity of Havfarm and the construction process," Nordlaks spokesperon Lars Martinussen told IntraFish.

The offshore farm is being built in three units that will be joined by CIMC Raffles' yard in Yantai.
