Norway's Director of Fisheries on Friday ruled that 13 developmental aquaculture permits now being used by Norwegian salmon farmer Nordlaks at its massive offshore Havfarm 1 cannot be converted into permanent farming permits, placing the project in jeopardy.

In April, Nordlaks applied for the conversion of 13 development permits granted for the realization of Havfarm 1.

In June of 2020, Havfarmen 1 arrived in Vesteralen and the release of fish started a month later.
