Nordic Aquafarms is requesting for financial incentives from the county government before the farming company develops its land-based facilities in Humboldt County, reported Times Standard.

The Norwegian company was earlier approved to lease 30 acres of property at a site that was formerly a Samoa pulp mill, but is currently requesting these incentives for water treatment and cleanup of key areas, citing a high level of risk.

Nordic Aquafarms has previously made clear its intention to develop land-based farming in the West Coast.
