Nordic Aquafarms will receive financial incentives from a California county government to move forward with its land-based facilities in Humboldt County, Lost Coast Outpost reports.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion directing staff to go after state and federal grants — and any other possible sources of funding — to help pay for infrastructure improvements on the Samoa Peninsula for the project, the news site reports.

The Norwegian company was earlier approved to lease 30 acres of property at a site that was formerly a Samoa pulp mill, and told county and city officials it requires financial incentives for water treatment and cleanup of key areas, citing a high level of risk.
