Washington-based environmental group Wild Fish Conservancy (WFC) filed a lawsuit Monday against Cooke Aquaculture for repeated and ongoing violations of the Clean Water Act (CWA) following the August incident in which Cooke's salmon net pen off Cypress Island in Washington broke apart and released hundreds of thousands of fish.

The NGO previously said it would sue the salmon farmer.

The conservancy seeks a declaratory judgment, injunctive relief and civil penalties against Cooke. The lawsuit is on behalf of the group's approximate 2,400 members.
