Norway's Ministry of Food and Industry has received a new report on the effect of salmon lice on wild fish, which officials will use to decide which areas of the country are allowed to increase salmon production.

The risk that wild salmon die due to salmon lice is lower in some areas, but other areas are still struggling, the report shows.

"There are signs that development is going the right way," said Fisheries Minister Harald Nesvik.

"A lot suggests that the efforts farmers have implemented to reduce the problem is working.
