A salmon farm owned by Chilean producer Multiexport has become the first to be certified free from the use of antibiotics and antiparasitics under the country's Antimicrobial Use Optimization Program (PROA).
Accreditation was awarded by Chile's National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca), to validate that Multiexport's Pilolcura site in the Los Lagos Region does not use antibiotics or antiparasitics.
The recent program initiated by Sernapesca aims to promote awareness about the responsible and efficient use of antibiotics and antimicrobials, promoting good practices for their use through the dissemination and adoption of recommendations related to health management.
