Mowi's Northern Harvest operations reported a lumpfish die-off while transferring the fish from a wellboat to a farming site.

Mowi originally reported 8,000 lumpfish mortalities, the result of water oxygen level complications on the vessel, but later updated the figure to 15,800, 42 percent of the fish on the vessel.

The removal and disposal of all mortalities is conducted per standard operating procedures. Marine Harvest Atlantic Canada has taken all responsible steps under the oversight of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Fisheries and Land Resources, and is following government policies in this matter, said the company.
