More than 2,500 farmed salmon escaped from salmon giant Mowi's site in Alstadhaug municipality, in Norway on Dec. 30.
The Directorate of Fisheries captured 53 fish so far at an average weight of 2.2 kilograms. It is calling for tips from the public to get a picture of the scope of the escape and distribution of the fish.
Major tears were found in a total of five nets following diving inspections at the site.
An extensive recovery operation has been initiated within a five-kilometer radius from the sites.
