The world’s largest salmon farmer, Mowi, is appealing a decision to revoke its licence on Deenish Island in Ballinskelligs Bay, Ireland, reports The Times.

The company was accused of harvesting more than twice the amount of salmon it was allowed to at its farm in 2016.

Michael Creed, Ireland’s agriculture minister, said that the company had harvested 1,100 metric tons instead of 500 metric tons and revoked its license for the farm.

“The breach of the license condition took place in circumstances where the company was fully aware of the limits set by the specific condition of the license,” a notice on the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s website said.
