Norwegian salmon giant Marine Harvest is pleased its "marine donut" was awarded with a development permit by the country's fisheries directorate, but the group is considering an appeal against the rejection of its submersible "beck-cage" concept.

On Feb. 24, the the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries released the results for five development permit applications for several companies, including two requests from Marine Harvest.

The company was seeking eight licenses for its "marine donut" concept, which was approved on the basis that it falls “within the scheme of development permits,” and six licenses for its "beck-cage" projects, which got declined by authorities.
