Nordic Aquafarms' proposed 33,000 metric ton recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) salmon farm in Maine remains on life support, after losing another lease critical to the farm's completion.

On Sept. 7, the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands (BPL) rescinded Nordic Aquafarms' submerged lands and dredging leases, which are needed to construct the farm's outflow pipes.

The agency's decision was in response to an earlier Maine Supreme Judicial Court decision that said Maine residents Jeffrey Mabee and Judith Grace own the intertidal land Nordic’s three industrial pipelines must cross.
