A second land-based salmon farm is coming to Maine.
Whole Oceans, a Maine-based company, signed an agreement Thursday to purchase most of a former paper mill site in Bucksport, Maine, to house a new land-based salmon farm.
The farm is expected to ultimately produce about 20,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon annually, according to Whole Oceans CEO Robert Piasio.
