Nordic Aquafarms, which plans to build one of the world’s largest land-based salmon farms in Belfast, Maine, has been asked for additional information as part of the government's permit application process.

According to local news reports, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is considering Nordic’s waste discharge permit application, and has asked the company to submit more information to show exactly where the proposed salmon farm’s outfall pipe will be placed.

The department also asked for information that will prove that the company has the “title, right or interest” to build it there, said the Bangor Daily News.
