Icelandic salmon farmer Laxar has appointed Jens Garðar Helgason as its new CEO to replace Helgi Sigurdsson who stepped down last November.

He will take up the role beginning Feb.1.

Jens Garðar has been the CEO of exporter Fiskimið since 2002. He is also chairman of Fisheries Iceland and has been since its foundation in 2014.

Laxar operates three facilities on land in the south of Iceland, as well as sea farms in Reyðarfjörður, in the east of Iceland and has headquarters in Reykjavik.
