A new land-based salmon farm with continuous renewal of fresh seawater has been licenced for production in Andoy, northern Norway.

Andfjord Salmon is set to grow 10,000 metric tons of salmon per year in "the world's largest throughput farm," it writes in a release.

Andfjord Salmon is a closed seawater plant lowered to sea level on land. It has 100 percent throughput with continuous renewal of fresh seawater, differing from traditional land based facilities which are based on recycled, purified water.
