US land-based salmon producer Whole Oceans opened a new office in Bucksport to act as the base for the company's Maine operations.
It is in the process of building a recirculating aquaculture services (RAS) salmon facility on the site of the former Verso paper mill in Bucksport.
The new office opened in July, replacing the company's former office in Portland, Maine.
In May, Whole Oceans named long-time consultant Michael Thompson as senior project coordinator for its new facility.
Whole Oceans received its final building permit in November, clearing the way for the company to begin building the land-based facility, nearly two years after it first announced its plans to build the facility.
