Norwegian krill ingredient supplier Aker BioMarine expects strong growth in the aquaculture business over the next few years.
The firm, which owns two fishing vessels -- Antarctic Sea and the Sea Saga, operating in the South Pole; and tramper vessel La Manche -- produces 25,000 metric tons of krill meal a year that it sells to both the aquaculture sector and the human-health sector.
Within the aquaculture segment, it relies equally on the shrimp sector in Asia and the Atlantic salmon farming industry in Australia, Northern Europe and Latin America, through partnerships with important players such as aquaculture feed giant BioMar Group, Matts Johansen, CEO at Aker BioMarine, told IntraFish.
