The fish disease Infectious Salmon Anaemia (ISA) has been detected at one of Norway Royal Salmon's (NRS) farms in Krakeberget.

The site has two fish groups. One group consist of 500,000 fish with an average weight of 4.5 kilograms and the other group consists of 800,000 fish with an average weight of 1.6 kilograms.

The consequences of the disease detection are difficult to estimate now, but it will probably reduce NRS's expected harvest volume for 2021, the group said in a statement.

"NRS continues to analyze the consequences and will return with more information when reporting the second quarter of 2021."

Norway Royal Salmon saw its earnings sink 20 percent in the first quarter of this year because of "unsatisfactory" costs and lower prices.

The group reported operational earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of NOK 60 million (€6 million/$7.3 million) for the first quarter of 2021. EBIT per kilo sank 60 percent to NOK 6.40 (€0.64/$0.77).

NRS said at the time it was “not satisfied” with the production costs during the quarter, which were the main cause of the dip in earnings.
