The French financial backers of an insect meal project say they see a "breaking point" when traditional fishmeal protein will longer be as competitive for feed suppliers to the aquaculture industry as newer alternatives such as insect meal.
"We strongly believe that the growth of the aquaculture industry and the growing need for animal protein for aquafeed will be solved by insects, among other things, as they represent a qualitative and economically coherent alternative compared to current solutions," Creadev investment analyst Alexandre Van der Wees told IntraFish.
