A new land-based salmon company is gathering pace in Iceland. The project has big plans and has increased production estimates even before any salmon have been sold.
The Deep Atlantic Project started in 2017 and is owned by the Icelandic startup company Landeldi.
Project approvals from relevant municipality and other authorities have been received, and no further approvals are required. Landeldi has already purchased both land and hatchery facilities.
For now, the company is fully funded for 3,000 metric tons of annual production, but it expects to raise additional finances by the end of this year to fund its growth plans.
