One of the world's largest salmon processing vessels has arrived in Iceland's western fjords to assist Arctic Fish with the emergency harvest of salmon following a mass mortality event over the weekend that killed 1,500-2,000 metric tons of fish.

"The most important thing now is to get the fish out of the cages as quickly as possible," Gisli Jonsson, a senior veterinarian at the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority, told IntraFish. "We have given Norwegian Gannet permission to help with emergency harvest."
