A land-bassed recirculation aquaculture system (RAS) shrimp farm in Grevesmühlen, Germany, nabbed €900,000 ($1.1 million) in public funding by the regional government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Together with the Institute of Fisheries of the State Research it will use the funding to further develop the current know-how as part of a research project.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Agriculture Minister Till Backhaus said the region could become a pioneer of RAS shrimp aquaculture in Germany and Europe.
