A report that addresses annual cost drivers in Norwegian salmon farming shows costs rose 5 percent from 2016 to 2017. The report, written by the research institute Nofima for the Fisheries and Aquaculture Industry Research Fund (FHF), focuses on smolt costs and capital-related costs in the industry.

It shows food costs have declined, while other operating costs have increased, indicating persistent challenges with lice.
