La Asociacion de Salmonicultores, an association for salmon farmers in Magallanes and the Chilean Antartic, has elected its 2019-2021 board, with former SalmonChile executive Carlos Odebret as the new president, following the end of Oscar Garay's interim presidency, reported ITV.

Odebret was a SalmonChile exec for 10 years and has extensive industry experience. He later founded Conecta SpA, a company that focused on "strategy design and environment analysis in the salmon sector."

The aim of the board is to consolidate the sector and develop trust among the players so that the entire industry can progress, Odebret said.

Other appointments on the board include Ignacio Covacevich de Bluriver as vice president and Josefina Moreno of Australis Mar as treasurer. Directors Sady Delgado will represent AquaChile, José Ramón Gutierrez will represent Multiexportfoods and Steven Rafferty will represent Cermaq.
