TURBOT (rodaballo) production in Spain and Portugal is dominated by the Norwegian-owned international aquaculture company Stolt Sea Farm.
Known since its origins as Prodemar, Stolt operates several turbot farms, mostly in Galicia, Spain, where this year it will produce 1950 tonnes of this flatfish.
Stolt companies Stolt Sea Farm and Martesanal are members of AROGA, (Asociacion de Productores de Rodaballo de Galicia), which estimates that its eight members will produce a combined 3745 tonnes this year.
Other member companies of the group include Acuidoro, Aquacria Arousa, Insuamar, Pescanova group company Insuina, Luso Hispana (a member of the Isidro de la Cal group) and Piscicola del Morrazo.
