Clarifying some open-ended questions about the Canadian liberal party's plan to phase out netpen aquaculture, Canadian Minister of Fisheries Bernadette Jordan stated that only the plan for the phase-out will be ready by 2025 and not the phase-out itself, reported SeaWestNews.

“The mandate letter is clear that I have to come up with a plan by 2025 and that’s what I will be doing,” Jordan told the publication.

The mandate letter to Jordan by the Canadian Prime Minister was released in the end of 2019, where Trudeau addressed the minister, saying in particular that one priority would be to deliver on completely phasing out netpen salmon by 2025 through "established legislative, regulatory and cabinet processes."
