Canada's First Nations Leadership Council (FNLC) on Thursday called for an end to all open netpen salmon farming in the Canadian province of British Columbia, adding further pressure on Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party to follow through on a re-election campaign promise.

BC Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) Regional Chief Terry Teegee said Thursday in a public webinar with other leaders of the FNLC that the Canadian government has taken a "piecemeal approach" to addressing the impact of salmon farming on wild populations.
