The Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST) is investigating a possible case of infectious salmon anemia (ISA) at a salmon farm belonging to Laxar Fiskeldis in Reydarfirdi, on the east coast of Iceland.

If the current diagnosis is confirmed, it will be the first time that a pathogenic variant of the ISA virus has been diagnosed in farmed salmon in Iceland, said MAST.

The ISA virus was detected during an autopsy and sampling following increasing unexplained mortalities in a particular pen belonging to Laxar Fiskeldis.
