Massachusetts-based biotechnology company KnipBio Inc. and Hawaii-based aquaculture firm Kampachi Farms said Monday they successfully completed a consumer taste trial of fish that were fed using the new fish feed, KnipBio Meal.
They conducted the trial at the Food Innovation Center at Oregon State University using a side-by-side comparison of Cabo Kampachi sashimi, which aimed to test if fish fed a diet consisting of up to 7.5 percent KBM differed in taste and other characteristics from fish fed a traditional fishmeal-based diet.
Cabo Kampachi is a premium grade of yellowtail raised by Kampachi Farms in Hawaii.
