The US National Aquaculture Association (NAA) is calling on US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to provide help to facilitate the distribution, redistribution and transportation of liquid and compressed oxygen.

This comes as increased hospital usage linked to the COVID-19 pandemic is triggering oxygen suppliers to notify aquaculture plants and live fish transportation companies of reduced supply, potentially only filling 30 percent of standing orders for liquid or compressed oxygen.

The problem is compounded by a lack of qualified drivers for the vehicles needed to transport oxygen.
