Dutch land-based aquaculture company Kingfish Zeeland is narrowing down options for the exact location of its second facility, which will be in the United States, while it approaches approval for the expansion of its existing operations in The Netherlands.

The company -- which started as an ambitious project in 2015 by CEO Ohad Maiman, former Marine Harvest CEO Hans den Bieman and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) expert Kees Kloethas -- began harvesting in November 2017 and scaled up to the current volume of 2 metric tons a week.
