EU-funded initiative works to break down barriers to multi-trophic aquaculture

The INTEGRATE project is a €2 million ($1.8 million) initiative, funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme through the European Regional Development Fund. It was launched in 2017 but is now in its final year, running eight pilot sites across the European Atlantic.

INTEGRATE is working to establish a technical definition of integrated multi-trophic aquaculture as the first step in establishing a framework for the practice, which has yet to establish itself in the European industry despite relative success in other parts of the world.
