Nutrition companies Evonik and Royal DSM will build a $200 million (€179.4 million) commercial-scale production facility in Blair, Nebraska, to produce omega-3 fatty acids from natural marine algae for animal nutrition.

DSM Nutritional Products and Evonik Nutrition & Care plan to invest $100 million (€89.7 million) each in the facility over the next two years. The initial annual production capacity will meet roughly 15 percent of the current total annual demand for EPA and DHA by the salmon aquaculture industry.
