While Ukraine is best known for its grain production, the country's aquaculture sector could see an upswing once the logistical and human challenges of the war end.

Last year, fish farmers in Ukraine became eligible for government aid under a new amendment passed by the Ukraine Parliament.

This measure could pave the way for fish farmers to gain support worth about €400 million ($486.3 million) annually. This, authorities hope, could boost the industry’s fish production from 2020’s 15,000 metric tons to as much as 75,000 metric tons.
