Boston-based Innovasea said Wednesday it established an office in Chile to directly deliver its solutions to one of the world's largest fish farming regions.

The operation will be located in Puerto Varas and headed by Juan Pablo Barrales, who has been working in the industry for more than two decades.

Over the past few years, Innovasea has acquired three companies to fit within the company's strategy of developing technology and services supporting egg-to-harvest operations for the aquaculture industry, with a focus on open-ocean production.

Innovasea is part of the Walton family-backed aquaculture investment fund Cuna del Mar's portfolio.

Cuna del Mar also owns an offshore cobia producer Open Blue Sea Farms, Mexican totaba and Pacific red snapper producer Earth Ocean Farms and oyster producer Sol Azul Maricultivos in Mexico.
