Cooke has been allowed to stock some of its former netpen salmon farms with rainbow trout in Washington state, allowing the group to continue operating after an Atlantic salmon escape in 2017 put the company's future in the region in doubt.

The company's Clam Bay and Hope Island sites have been stocked, Washington state's Department of Ecology, told IntraFish. State officials authorized fish transport permits for Hope Island in August of this year after the determination the site was in good working order based.
