Cooke Aquaculture is investing $58.6 million (€48.2 million) in a post-smolt salmon hatchery in Digby Neck, Nova Scotia, to produce three million fish per year and supply the group's 13 fish farm sites in the area, CBC reported.

The project will undergo a 30-day public comment period due to end Feb. 12 prior to the minister making a decision.

The Nova Scotia government posted the notice of Cooke's proposal on Wednesday. The hatchery could create 16 full-time jobs when completed.
