Cooke gets preliminary OK to raise trout in troubled Washington state salmon farms

State officials have opened a public comment period for a proposal that would allow the company to continue to operate in Washington state.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) plans to issue a five-year Marine Aquaculture Permit to Cooke to culture all-female triploid rainbow trout at its existing netpens in the Puget Sound.
