Norwegian cod farming group Gadus Group has purchased a former cleaner fish hatchery operated by Mowi and plans to convert it into what it says will be the world's largest cod hatchery.

The operation, located in Rodberg, Norway in the Trondelag region, was formerly operated by Atlantic Cod Farms and Codfarmers, prior to being acquired by Mowi in 2013.

Gadus said it plans to upgrade the facility by the end of 2021 for the production of between 12 million and 15 million cod fry.
