Cod farming almost completely disappeared from the aquaculture agenda a few years ago, when Norway's Codfarmers had to pull the plug on its operations.

However, farming of the species is making a comeback: In November, Namdal Settefisk was granted two licensee, bringing the total number of farming licenses for the company Namdal Torsk to four.

Namdal Torsk operates two at sites in Oskarsvika, Fosnes Municipality, and plans are to grow.

"We released the first consignment of cod juveniles we received from Nofima in Tromso into marine cages July 2016," Kaare Devik, managing director at Settefisk, told IntraFish.
